Woodpecker Bay is the bay encompassing Fox River, just north of Punakaiki, on the wild West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Our West Coast accommodation comprises 6 self-contained baches along the coast of Woodpecker Bay.

Woodpecker Bay offers remoteness and unmatched natural beauty, and all of our baches have stunning ocean views and are right on the water’s edge. All baches have fully equipped kitchens and all linen is provided. All of our baches have free, fast WiFi. They are suitable for couples, friends and families looking to explore the beauty of the West Coast.

Bach (pronounced ‘batch’) is the Kiwi word for a traditional rustic, often seaside, holiday home – our baches are rustic, and definitely seaside! Unwind and enjoy… It’s like chicken soup for the soul.

There is a lot to do in the area, such as cycling or walking the Paparoa Track, or one of the many others throughout the Paparoa National Park. The famous Pancake Rocks and Blow Holes at Punakaiki are just 15 minutes away. Wildlife on the coast includes seals and many seabirds, including the occasional penguin. Dolphins are often spotted swimming past.
